A stellar field of Canterbury's top amateurs will turn out for the Golf Warehouse Canterbury 4BBB Championship being held at Waimairi Beach Golf Club this Sunday 21 June.
Demand to play in the Men's Championship has been unprecedented with 25 pairs balloted out. The cut-off for the men's field was a combined handicap of 7.9.

Russley Life Member and long time friend of Canterbury Golf Ernie Poole recenty passed away at the age of 87 due to natural causes.
Ernie was widely regarded as an "encylopedia of golf knowledge" with an excellent understanding of the rules of golf, course rating, handicapping and the like.
In terms of Canterbury Golf he made major contributions to the CGRA, Course Rating, and in recent times statistical analysis of golf club membership trends and issues.
A memorial service for Ernie is being held on Friday July 3rd at 1pm in the chapel at St Andrew’s College.

Clearwater Golf Club has appointed Luke Taylor (CEO) and Aiden Berry (General Manager) to its management team.
Kevin Simcock, board chairman, said that to be able to employ two people of the calibre of Luke and Aiden is incredibly exciting for the club and its future.
“Luke’s area of responsibility will cover Management and Leadership, Finance and Governance, Communication, Brand and Profile and relationships with Clearwater Residents Owners Association, Peppers hotel and other key parties.

Due to COVID-19 the Canterbury Golf Annual Awards Dinner normally held early June is postponed.
At the July Executive Committee Meeting a date in August/September will be considered based on the current and projected restrictions relating to COVID-19 at that time.
It is Canterbury Golf's desire, if possible, to hold a full celebration of achievements in the last year if this can be managed in a timely fashion. Otherwise an alternative method for making awards will be considered.

The Tour Championship is an event we enjoy hosting to provide the opportunity for our sponsors and key volunteer management to play alongside the leading Canterbury players on the Order of Merit. Canterbury golf clubs are coming under tremendous pressure from members and the golfing public to open their courses next Tuesday when Alert Level 3 kicks in. Club management have been inudated with calls and enquiries as to if and when they will open and people trying to get a tee time.
However what most of the golfing community are not aware of, are the restrictions or "guidelines" that come with opening. Some of these are:

Long standing Bottle Lake Golf Club member Alan H Brown passed away due to natural causes on 16 April aged 89. Alan was an outgoing, friendly man and member of the Eagles Society since 1975 holding most positions in the Canterbury District, including Treasurer from 1977-1980, Club Captain 1982-1983, President 1985-1986 and became a Life Member in 2003. He was also President of the Windsor Golf Club from 1973-1974 and on the Canterbury Management Committee from 1969-1977 and President in 1974.
