Junior Match Play Interclub

MTF Carlton Corner Logo The Final of MTF Finance Junior Match Play Interclub was held at Kaiapoi Golf Club on Sunday between Russley White and Hororata / Weedons in fine, sunny conditions and the course in great order. The Russley White team had progessed through the round robin stage unbeaten and were looking to carry on their winning way. While Hororata / Weedons had other ideas it was the Russley side of, from left Lochie Horne, Alice Fry, Aisha Lee and Rahil Krishna who continued the team's unbeaten run to win 3-1.   Aisha, pictured again left was also presented with the Junior Match Play MVP Maori Wahaika trophy...

Men's Metro A & B Interclub Champions

Metro A Winners Avondale 2023 LR The Finals of Men's Metro A & B Interclub competitions were held at McLeans Island Golf Club on Sunday in fine, sunny conditions and the course in great order. The Metro A Final was as tight as finals golf gets. Avondale and Bottle Lake were unable to be separated at the end of the regulation 18 holes finishing 4-4. Cheviot New Boyle Cup Champions

Boyle Cup Winners Apr 2023 Cheviot LR The first Boyle Cup challenge for 2023 was played at Amberley Golf Club yesterday in fine conditions, with the current Boyle Cup holders Amberley backing up after three successful challenges in 2022 and hosting Cheviot .In a very close match Cheviot's team of, from left Phils Morris, Sue Anderson, Jenny LePine, Annie LePine and Val Parsons defeated the current Boyle Cup Champions Amberley 3-2. Cheviot will now contact Canterbury Clubs requesting applications from clubs wishing to issue a challenge, and then undertake a ballot to confirm challenges for the remainder of the season.

Presidents Grade Interclub

Presidents Grade Interclub Winners 2023 Russley LR The Final round of Presidents Grade Interclub was held at Coringa Golf Club yesterday in fine conditions and the course in great order.  Russley were crowned Presidents Grade Champions after just one loss throughout the 13 round competition and that was to to Runners-up Rawhiti, who finished a point behind Russley. Bottle Lake finished in third place a further four points behind Rawhiti.   The hotly contested MVP Trophy and customary bottle of Gordons Gin was shared between Marty Rhodes (Rawhiti) and Gary Shaw (Templeton) pictured with Canterbury Golf Executive Committee Member John Thompson.

2023 Canterbury Match Play Concludes

IMG 9 After the weather-enforced interruption back in early March, the 2023 Canterbury Match Play was completed last weekend. Played at Waitikiri Golf Club the opening 3 rounds of the Match Play were able to be completed on the 4th and 5th of March before weather conditions suspended play leaving all finals matches to be played. With Waitikiri’s scheduled greens coring taking place from the 6th of March and one of the Men’s finalists being based in Auckland this added a few more challenges to rescheduling the remaining fixtures however these were eventually confirmed and played. NZ Women’s Masters Review

Team Photo4 The 2023 NZ Women’s Masters event took place over the weekend at the Otaki Golf Club in the Kapiti Coast. Originally scheduled for Napier prior to the devastating cyclone, the event was hastily rescheduled for Otaki who graciously accepted hosting responsibilities. The Canterbury team featured many normal faces with the addition of Kim Moggach to this year’s team, the only change from the previous year. The ladies started positively on day 1 recording a team total of 93 points in the teams stableford competition where the teams best 3 of 4 scores are counted. 2023 Secondary School Championships | Record Entries

Sec School Trophy The 2023 Canterbury Secondary School Golf Championships will be taking place on Monday 27 March at Templeton Golf Club as part of the weeklong Secondary Schools Summer Tournament week. Entries have been flowing for this year’s event with a total of 83 players set to take part, a record number for this event. In total there will be 19 different schools from across the region that will be represented with schools having the choice of entering teams for the team’s aspect as well as individuals. Mel and Robbie Mel Brew and Robyn Gillespie to step down as Canterbury Women’s Selectors Canterbury Golf would like to take the opportunity to acknowledge and thank both Mel Brew and Robyn Gillespie who have decided to step down from the position of Canterbury Women’s Selectors.
