Canterbury Golf women's recent events have been dogged with inclement weather and Monday 30 November was no exception when the cold southerly wind and rain struck the Women's annual CRYSTALP Jewellery Sponsored Ringers Tournament at the Kaiapoi golf course.
This was reflected in the scores but the winners, Weedons Golf Club with the pairing of Vicki Ward and Gail Parkinson returned a creditable total score of 69 stableford points, in the conditions. A new, rejuvenated and rebranded Smiths City are partnering with Canterbury Golf to sponsor a couple of projects.
The first has been the Spring She Loves Golf 6's series that has taken place through November at Waitikiri, Harewood, Bottle Lake, and Russley Golf Clubs. Smiths City have generously donated spot and participation prizes including a lucky participant draw for a Sleepyhead Queens Size Bed and an LG Soundbar. A stellar performance by the Canterbury Men's Team has seen them lift the trophy at the New Zealand Men's Interprovincial played at Whitford Park Golf Club this week.

The Canterbury Men's Team have fought back from a round one loss to go through the remaining rounds unbeaten and top their section with 5 points and 23 games.
The team have dug deep to close out must win matches to deservedly book their spot in the semi final against Hawkes Bay. The other semi final will be played between North Harbour and Taranaki.

The Women's Champions Day and Gross Stableford Rosebowl Tournament was held yesterday and a tough, cold day out greeted the players with the strong winds and occasional showers at Templeton golf course
Catherine Bell of Christchurch withstood the conditions to return a 36 hole gross total of 151 which included a stunning 71 in the afternoon to claim the Champion of Champions title for 2020. Rachel Eder of Clearwater came in second with a steady 81 and 80, ahead of Amy Weng, Pegasus, in third place at 166.

Amelia Garvey is finally teeing it up in her first major championship as she joins Lydia Ko in the US Women’s Open field.
Like Ko, Garvey aspires of winning “majors and medals” and has already had numerous close calls with playing in major championships in her young amateur career, particularly with the US Women’s Open.
She’s now received an exemption into the final major of the year which will be played at Champions Golf Club from December 11 – 14.
