Woodward Cup Rounds 8 & 9 at Harewood

The final two rounds of Woodward Cup were played at Harewood Golf Club yesterday and there were some interesting results as teams jockeyed for semi-final positions. Round 8 Templeton kept their slim sem-final hopes alive and celebrated Dan Laughton's 100th Woodward Cup game with a 4.5-3.5 upset win over front runners Russley. Laughton beat Russley's Robbie Blount 3/1, to go with wins for Jordon Latter, Tom Wilson, Ryan Bellamy, and a half to Josh Simpson. For Russley Reid Hilton, Owen Burgess, and Andrew Dufton won, and Regan Kilpatrick got the half. Harewood and Bottle Lake fought out a 4-4 draw with Ben Burgess...

Pollock Cup Round 5 at Hororata

Pollock Cup visited picturesque Hororata yesterday for the final round where the weather was warm and the course in great condition. Clearwater faced Harewood in the first match of the round comfortably winning 4-2 with convincing wins to Amelia Garvey, Rachel Eder, Di Kay and Julie Battersby while Anne Dick and Pam McTaggart had wins for Harewood. In the match up of the round unbeaten Pegasus played last year's Champions Russley with Russley needing to win and results to go their way to make the final. Simon Cup & Roy Mitchell Salver Winner

Simon Cup Salver Winner 2020 Allen Goodman Cropped The Final round of Simon Cup was played at Christchurch Golf Club yesterday in warm, windy conditions and the course in great order. Teams were vying for Semi-Final spots on 1 November at Coringa Golf Club, and the Roy Mitchell Salver was also on the line for the best performed player over the past nine rounds. Christchurch will play Avondale and Russley will play Waitikiri to decide who will meet in the Simon Cup Final on Finals Day, 8 November at Waitikiri Golf Club. Millennium Trophy

Millennium Trophy 2020 LR The Annual Millennium Trophy Match between Canterbury and Aorangi Women was played at Tinwald Golf Club yesterday in warm, calm conditions and the course in great order. Aorangi again proved too strong for Canterbury winning the match 719 - 660. Aorangi averaged 35.95 stableford points per player compared with Canterbury's 33. Canterbury Men's Masters finish Runners Up at South Island Interprovincial

The match involved all five South Island provinces, with the six man teams battling it out at the North Otago Golf Club over four rounds of match play. The North Otago Golf Club provides a tough challenge with undulating fairways. Woodward Cup Rounds 6 & 7 at Templeton

Rounds six and seven of the 2020 Woodward Cup were held at Templeton Golf Club in fine but very windy conditions. All matches were able to be completed and there were some interesting results. Round 6 In the morning a close match was expected between Avondale and Waitikiri and so it was with a 4-4 draw. Four matches went to the 18th hole with Leith Campion and Aaron Forysth halving, as did Jack Holmes and Simon Marshall. Waitikiri's Kris O'Neill and Paul McEwan had 1up wins to go with Woo Bong Kim's 3/2 win over Nick Brennan. For Avondale Sam Purdon won...

Pollock Cup Round 6 at Waitikiri

A windy day at Waitikiri presented challenging conditions, but did not deter some players who returned excellent results for their teams.   With one round to go, Pegasus has gone to top of the table with a two point lead following the 6-0 defeat of Christchurch. Decisive wins by Momoka Kobori, Deanna Matthews and Amy Weng spearheaded the Pegasus victory.  With Waitikiri's players number four, five and six securing early wins over Harewood, the final result hinged on the top three matches where Harewood came home with three more wins to tie up the round for a half at three matches apiece.
