Lamb and Hayward Left Tile A capacity field is confirmed for the 2020 Lamb & Hayward Canterbury Strokeplay to be held at Harewood Golf Club this weekend. It should be an interesting tournament with many new faces in the field from throughout the South Island. Most are attracted by the House of Travel Tour prizes on offer across the Canterbury, Otago and Southland Strokeplays, with the Canterbury Strokeplay being the last leg of the tour. NZ Golf Travelling Squads

Courtesy of NZ Golf New Zealand Golf have three travelling squads to compete in the Australian Master of the Amateurs, the South American Amateur Open, and the Women’s Amateur Asia-Pacific Championship. The team of Jared Edwards, Tyler Wood, James Hydes, Kazuma Kobori, Amelia Garvey, and Carmen Lim travel to The Victoria Golf Club in Melbourne to play in Australia’s highest-ranking event from January 5th – 10th early next year. Canterbury Age Group Championships

IMG 1206 Zach May (Russley) led from the front throughout the 36 hole Canterbury Age Group Championships. He opened with the round of the day signing for a six under par 67 in the morning round and continued his hot form in the afternoon finishing with a three under par 70 to etch his name on the Canterbury U19 Championship trophy. Avondale Win Promotion to 2020 Woodward Cup

The 2019 Woodward Cup Promotion / Relegation Match was played at Harewood Golf Course yesterday in warm, windy conditions with the Woodlands Course in superb order.  Coringa, fighting to retain their status in Woodward Cup and Avondale earning the right to challenge for a place in next year's competition, after winning this year's Blank Cup, were matched against each other after both the winners of the Canterbury North Kaikoura Cup and Canterbury Central Shield declined the offer to compete. Canterbury Women Finish 6th at NZ Interprovincials

IMG 2542 The Flexi Lease Canterbury Women's Team showed they are amongst the top teams in New Zealand again this year. The team headed into the 2019 NZ Women's Interprovincial with four players from last year's line-up along with two players also on debut. Former Canterbury No.1 Juliana Hung recently joined the professional ranks while Catherine Bell was a late withdrawal from the team. This opened the door for Melissa Newburn to move into the playing line-up with 14 year old Jasmine Clancy gaining the valuable experience of travelling with the team in the reserve position.
