Cresswell Cup Winners 2019 Weedons Red LR 1 The Richards Trophy and Cresswell Cup matches were played at Hororata yesterday in cool, sunny conditions and the course in great order. The Richards Trophy match was between Harewood (Winner of Metropolitan A) and Amberley Red (Winner of Templeton Cup) with the Amberley Red team of Shaun Heslop, Steve Thomas, Karl Rattray, Rowan Turnbull, Glen Smith, Dean Walker, Mark Neale and Graham Demmocks defeating Harewood's Ramon Coleman, Terry Coleman, Barry Coleman, Guy Chambers, Colin Posa, Peter Coleman, John Hamilton and Marcus Wyatt 7-1 at the end of some very close matches, with five of the eight matches decided on the 17th...

Amelia Garvey Named in Astor Trophy Team

Amelia Garvey NZ Stroke Play Courtesy of NZ Golf New Zealand Golf has named a mix of youth and experience to play for the Astor Trophy in Canada in August. Auckland is well represented with Wenyung Keh and Carmen Lim making the team. Wellington’s Julianne Alvarez makes her third Astor Trophy appearance and Canterbury’s Amelia Garvey is selected for her first. 21 June 2019 42 The 2019 Canterbury Golf Annual Awards Dinner was hosted for the first time at Christchurch Golf Club last Friday evening. 140 club members, sponsors, invited guests, and Canterbury Golf personnel and stakeholders sat in the recently rebuilt club house and enjoyed an evening of awards, interviews and entertainment. MC Phil McGoldrick again did a fantastic job keeping the evening flowing and punctuating the formalities with golfing anecdotes and humour. It was a fine but cool day at the 2019 Riccarton Park Golf Complex Canterbury 4BBB Championship at Russley Golf Club. With no wind there was some good scoring but the challenging Russley layout still played tough for many players. The men's championship was won by the Templeton pairing of Sam Purdon and Ryan Bellamy who combined for a seven under par 65. They beat the pairings of Nic Kay and Nick Franzmann, and Josh Roche and Reid Hilton by one shot. Mens Champion of Champions 2019 Team Gross Christchurch LR The Canterbury Golf Men's Champion of Champions Tournament was played at Waitikiri Golf Club yesterday in initially foggy conditions before clearing later to a fine day. The annual fixture between North Canterbury and Central Canterbury teams was played at the Waimakariri Golf Club. With 48 players competing across senior, intermediate and masters teams it was a tight battle throughout the day, with very windy conditions adding to the challenge. North Canterbury took the overall win 21-15 games with foursomes in the morning and singles matches in the afternoon. Thanks to the Waimakariri Golf Club for providing their course for this event. Junior Interclub Matchplay Winners 2019 ChCh LR The Junior Interclub Matchplay Final was played at Templeton yesterday between Christchurch and Russley Blue in fine cool conditions, with the course in great order. After a delay due to a heavy frost, all matches got underway and were played in great spirit. All matches were very tight with the last two being decided on the 17th & 18th holes and the final could have gone either way. Patterson Cup Winners 2019 Weedons Red LR The Canterbury Central Patterson Cup Final was played at Weedons Golf Club on Sunday in an all Weedons affair with Weedons Red playing Weedons Black. The Weedons Red team of, from left Dave Stubbs, Richard Poulsen, Glenn Hames, Mike Methven, Chris Hay and Dave Butts won the Patterson Cup 4-2 yesterday making it the third successive year and Weedons Black won the Smart Cup for runner-up.
