A calm sunny day greeted players at Clearwater yesterday for round 5 of Pollock Cup.
Waimairi Beach got off the mark with a team win over Waitikiri 3.5 to 2.5 with Kate Turner, Lyn Robertson and Allison Doell registering wins for Waimairi Beach while Georgia Wayman and Kim Moggach who were both presented with their badges for 50 Pollock games played, made it even more special in that they played each other and halved their match. Naomi Wallace and Chris Marple had wins for Waitikiri.

Christchurch Golf Club hosted the seventh round of Woodward Cup in near perfect conditions at the business end of the season. Christchurch continued their dominant run, remaining unbeaten after topping second placed Pegasus 5.5-2.5. Christchurch’s top three Mike Toeke, Richard Reed and Marcel Boet all had big wins, with Boet now making his move back to America for College Golf at Oregon State. They were ably supported by Josh Roche, who also achieved a hole in one on No. 7 and new member Todd Gantley. A fine sunny day greeted players at Russley yesterday and after a short frost delay provided ideal conditions for the fourth round of Pollock Cup.
Both Christchurch and Pegasus continued their superior form with convincing 6-0 wins over Waimairi Beach and Weedons respectively. For Christchurch, Catherine Bell, Olive Tapu, Melissa Newburn, Margaret-Mary Coughlan, Mel Brew and Robyn Gillespie had wins while Hillary O'Connor, Danielle Price, Rion Ishizawa, Jessica Crosbie, Karen De Latour and Bobbi Oliver registered wins for Pegasus.

Waitikiri Golf Club was the host for the sixth round of Woodward Cup where sunny, calm conditions greeted players. The hosts found themselves in a tight tussle with Avondale with six games going down the last hole. Waitikiri had wins to Antony Dale, Chris Bond and Geoff Rudduck whilst Avondale's wins came from Haupai Puha and Nathan Andrews, along with Hayden Burns who turned in a dramatic win at number one to ensure the teams would share points at four a piece. Canterbury’s Juliana Hung and Auckland’s Jimmy Zheng have been selected to represent New Zealand at the 2018 Youth Olympics in Buenos Aires.
The pair have been selected for their great form and are the highest ranked juniors in the World Amateur Golf Rankings.
They will be 16-years-old at the time of the games and now get the opportunity to compete against some of the world’s best young golfers where the small bracket of young athletes aged from 15 to 18 years old will strive for gold.

The Annual Town vs Country event was played at Coringa yesterday in cool, windy conditions with the course in great order.
