The Junior Interclub Matchplay Semi-Finals and Finals were played at Christchurch Golf Club on Sunday in cool, sunny conditions and the course in immaculate order.
The Semi-Finals were both very closes contests with victories not decided until the final hole in several matches with Kaiapoi Blue defeating last year’s champions Lincoln 2.5-1.5 and Christchurch edging out Russley White 3-1 to reach the Final.
The Final between Christchurch’s, in back row Josh Roche, Finlay Jones, Michael Anderson, Bentley Seeto (Mgr), Mika McDonald and front row Korban Turnbull and Tim Seeto and Kaiapoi Blue’s, from left Mitchell McMillan, Oli Taylor, Wayne Willis, Layton Robertson and Taylor Willis was also a very close encounter with two matches decided on the final hole and another on the penultimate hole before the 2017 Junior Matchplay Champions were found with Christchurch winning 3-1.
The Junior Interclub Award for most individual wins was jointly won by Oli Taylor (Kaiapoi Blue) and Mitch Holland (Lincoln) both with 4 wins from 4 matches, pictured with the Maori Wahaika Trophy.
