The annual North Canterbury vs Central Canterbury representative fixture was played last Sunday at the Waimakariri Golf Club. The weather conditions were favourable and the course was presented in top condition. In the Senior matches North took an early lead after the morning foursomes by 4-2. The afternoon singles saw North convincingly claim the honours with a 8.5-3.5 result which made the overall result 12.5 to 5.5 to the North. The Masters division was also convincingly won by North Canterbury who led 3-0 after the foursomes and continued in a similar vein in the singles winning those 5-1 for a comprehensive 8-1 overall victory. Central had their taste of success in the Juniors with their morning success 2-0 in the foursomes paving the way for a 4-2 victory after the afternoon singles were tied at two apiece.
For the first time this year there was an Intermediate division and North got up to win , overcoming a 2-1 deficit after the foursomes to win the singles 4-2 and claim overall victory 5-4. Overall this meant that North Canterbury defeated Central Canterbury over all divisions by 27.5 – 14.5.
