The Metro A & B Men's Interclub Finals were played at Coringa Golf Club last Sunday in far from ideal weather conditions. Players had to endure rain and strong southerly winds with the course in good condition considering the amount of rain that fell. The Metro A Final between Russley and Waimairi Beach was very close right to the end with three critical matches going to the 18th before the Waimairi Beach team from left, Steve Priest, Darren Smith, Peter Perham, Dave Smith, Carl van Rees, Craig Prior ,Gary Eyre and Jeff Wigney prevailed 5.5-2.5.
The Metro B Final was an even closer affair with Harewood and Bottle Lake locked up at 4 all at the end of 18 holes and requiring a sudden death play-off which proceeded for two extra holes before darkness intervened to postpone a final winner being found.
The sudden death play-off will resume at Coringa between the two players involved on a mutually agreeable day and time to determine who is Metro B Champion for 2017.
