Russley Dominant in Presidents Interclub Final

Presidents Grade Winners 2017 Russley3 The Presidents Grade Interclub Final was played at Christchurch Golf Club last Sunday between Russley and Harewood in cool overcast conditions with the course in excellent order.  The Russley team of, from left Keith Hiscoke, Gary Scannell, Lindsay Penman, Johnathan Curtis, Gavin KIng, Tony Daly, Colin Goodman, Chris Le Cren, Stephen French, Gary Shepherd and John Sutton defeated Harewood’s Tony Marriner, Tony Ralfe, Wayne Coleman, Paul Dale, Kim Dale, Mike Regan, Mike Stanley and Gary Charmley. North Canterbury versus Central Canterbury Rep Match

The annual North Canterbury vs Central Canterbury representative fixture was played last Sunday at the Waimakariri Golf Club. The weather conditions were favourable and the course was presented in top condition.  In the Senior matches North took an early lead after the morning foursomes by 4-2. 9 9 Hole Interclub Winners 2017 Bottle Lake LR The 9 Hole Interclub Final was played at Templeton this morning in initially foggy, calm weather, with the course in great condition. The Bottle Lake team pictured with 9 Hole Convenor Claire Ballantyne are from left,  Johanna Moore, Jenny Bartley, Norma Powell and Anne Traquair who all contributed consistently as a team to defeat Avondale's Liz Newman, Rayleen Williams, Kathryn Ferris and Linda Neilson by 78 stableford points to 72.

Kaiapoi National Teams District Champions Again

National Teams District Champions 2017 Kaiapoi LR Kaiapoi Golf Club hosted the National Women’s District Final Championship on Friday in calm, sunny weather conditions and the course in immaculate order. Twenty teams competed for District Championship honours and it was a very close contest with only nine shots separating the first 12 teams. Metro A Winners 2017 Waimairi Beach LR The Metro A & B Men's Interclub Finals were played at Coringa Golf Club last Sunday in far from ideal weather conditions. Players had to endure rain and strong southerly winds with the course in good condition considering the amount of rain that fell. Canterbury Defend South Island Age Group Interprovincials

Canterbury U16 U19 Teams 2017 SIIP The Canterbury U16 & U19 Boys Teams have successfully defended their respective interprovincial titles at the South Island U19 Championship played at the Cromwell Golf Club.  The South Island interprovincial is played in conjunction with South Island U19 Championship with the best four scores from each team counting over the three rounds.   The Canterbury U16 Team which included, Kazuma Kobori, Tiaki Ogilvie, Zach May, Hayato Miya and Kansuke Shin showed what a talented side they are to win the title from Otago by 39 shots.  The team started with a dominate first round with a combined team score of 295...

Get into Golf booklet for Green Prescription small In a first for New Zealand, golf in Canterbury has become a recognised provider for the Sport NZ Green Prescriptions Programme. The programme is provided through local Sports Trusts A Green Prescription is a health professional's written advice to a patient to be physically active, as part of the patient's health management. Parker and Brettkelly Finish Third at Australian Junior Amateur

Tom Parker Stare Down It was an exciting week of golf following the progress of our top Canterbury juniors playing in the Australian Junior Amateur.  Tom Parker, Dominic Brettkelly, Juliana Hung and Amelia Garvey were selected by NZ Golf to play the event, with Hiroki and Hayato Miya also making the trip to gain experience playing the top junior tournament in Australia.   Both Parker and Brettkelly elevated themselves up the leaderboard after morning rounds of 63 and 65 respectively on the final day of play.  Parker led the tournament heading into the final round with Brettkelly just two shots back, unfortunately the final round...

North Canterbury v's Nelson Match

North Canterbury played their annual match against Nelson at the Hanmer Springs Golf Club over the weekend with four teams represented from each region which includes junior, senior, intermediate and masters players.  The North Canterbury Seniors came back strongly on the second day of play winning three of four matches to square up their contest at six games all with both Andrew Green and Oscar Cadenhead earning two wins from their two matches played.  The Nelson Masters were too strong for the North Canterbury team only dropping half a game in their dominant victory.  The North Canterbury Juniors staged a...

Canterbury on the Improve at NZ Women's Masters

Canterbury Womens 2017 Masters Team LR The coveted Russell Grace Cup played for at the New Zealand Women's Masters event played this year at the Ngaruawahia Golf Club was won by the Northland team for the first time.  The Northland team were dominant throughout the week finishing with a winning margin of ten shots over Bay of Plenty, with defending champions Auckland finishing in third position.     The charge was led by new-master Kylie Jacoby who shot a 38 in her first round.
