It was a special occasion at Waitikiri Golf Club yesterday when Pam Ellis received her Canterbury Golf Life Membership in front of an appreciative gathering of women club members who had come especially to honour Pam.
Pam received her plaque from fellow Life Member Sue McFarlane and a nice bunch of flowers from Canterbury Golf Executive Commitee Member Kate Johnstone.
Pam's service began in 2009 managing the womens masters team for six years and also being a team selector for that time. She has also been on the womens course rating committee since that time and continues to contribute today. In 2010 Pam joined the Canterbury Golf Womens Committee and after three years became the Chair of the committee in 2013 – a position she recently relinquished to Debbie Scott. She also did a stint as a women’s rep selector during that time.
A little known fact about Pam is that she represented Canterbury at the NZ Interprovincials in 1973, then known as the Russell Grace tournament. She was also the non-playing reserve for the team 1970-1972 and played for Canterbury in various other regional rep matches during that time.
Pam received her Canterbury Golf Distinguished Service Award in 2015.
A video of the presentation will be available on our Facebook page shortly.
