What an incredible effort, Barrie.
We first caught up with you back in March 2025, just before you teed it up at Weedons and set off on this journey. You have used this sport, the early mornings, the fresh air, the mates who show up without being asked, to shine a light on mental health, and we believe that is what golf is all about.
We are proud that you chose Canterbury to kick things off and bring it home. Our fairways have seen a lot over the years, and what you have done genuinely means something. You should be so proud of what you have achieved.
To everyone who followed, donated, and cheered from the sideline, thank you. This is what our golfing community is all about ⛳️❤️

Sunday’s Canterbury 4BBB Championship at Waimairi Beach Golf Club delivered one for the history books!
For the first time in the event’s history, both the men’s and women’s championships ended in a three-way tie for the title. In the men’s, David Zohrab and Ronan Restieaux, Shane Whooley and Etienne Collier, and Louis Edwards and Nash De Klerk all shared the honours on eight-under-par. In the women’s, Eva Yin and Junie Chang, Vanessa Lim and Yoonae Jeong, and Naomi Wallace and Katrina Hall each returned even-par 72s to be crowned co-champions ⛳️
A popular addition to this year’s championship was the Trackman activation on Hole 10, with players able to see their swing speed, ball speed and driving distance recorded throughout the day. We’ve included the stats from the competition and it’s something we’re looking to build on, with more technology like this planned for our championship events going forward. A big thank you to Shane for making that happen.
Finally, a huge thank you to Waimairi Beach Golf Club for an outstanding day.
