Canterbury Golf is seeking expressions of interest for the 2023 Canterbury Men’s and Women's Selector positions. These are rewarding roles that contribute to the ongoing success of Canterbury Golf.
To successfully fulfill the roles, the following skills and attributes are required:
The ability to provide quality and fair player appraisals
Well organised
The ability to work as part of a team
A passion for golf
Excellent communication and analytical skills
Ability to spend time at Woodward/Pollock Cup and major tournaments based in Canterbury to observe players

The Canterbury Life Members Tournament was held at Amberley Golf Club on Tuesday in very hot temperatures and the course in great order.
The Overall Winner of the Life Members Trophy was Graeme Ramsay from Hawarden (pictured right) with a great round of 81 and 40 stableford points.
Last year's winner Geoff d'Auvergne from Amberley was runner-up in the Men's Division with 32 points on a countback from John Duff, McLeans Island and Keith Yorston, Hawarden with 30 points.

The Final round of Canterbury Men's Over 50's & 60's Interclub was completed at Weedons Country Club last Sunday. The popular competition attracted a record 24 teams who played six rounds during the 2022/23 season.

Last Friday the annual Presidents & Secretaries Day was combined for the first time with the annual Captains Day as a joint occasion at Ellesmere Golf Club. The day was a great success with over 80 players in the field and representatives of the majority of the Canterbury clubs in attendance.

Dominic Brettkelly (Clearwater) wins the Canterbury Stroke Play at Waimairi Beach by 4 shots from Reid Hilton (Russley) and a further 4 shots to Cooper Moore (Clearwater) and Liam Hewitt (Queenspark). Brettkelly had established a strong lead after Saturday's 2 rounds, being 13 under and 7 shots ahead. A solid par round on Sunday was sufficient to take out the Canterbury Title, along with the South Island Stroke Play title which was run in conjunction with the Canterbury event.

The 2023 Canterbury Stroke Play is now just days away as excitement builds for one of the most eagerly anticipated fields in the event's history to be played at Waimairi Beach Golf Club over the 4-5 February weekend. Over 140 entries, a new record, were received for the 96 positions meaning the competition for places was extremely tight across several of the divisions.

After 13 years at the helm of Canterbury Golf, General Manager Grant Lewis is moving on to a role with Golf New Zealand as National Sector Support Manager. He will still be based in Christchurch but will support clubs, districts, and national relationships across New Zealand.

The 2022 Women’s NZ Interprovincial tournament took place last week with the event coinciding with the Men’s Interprovincial for the first time. The two venues used throughout the week were Omanu Golf Club in Mount Manganui and Tauranga Golf Club, both courses in decent condition with the ladies playing equal rounds at both locations.
