The Canterbury 9 Hole Interclub Final was played at Kaiapoi yesterday in mild, calm conditions with the course in great order.
The Avondale team of Kathryn Ferris, Linda Neilson, Rayleen Williams and Liz Newman with a combined Stableford score of 58 points defeated Russley’s Eleanor Smart, Kaye Radford, Claire Ballantyne and Pauline McGeorge with 47 points.
The win was just reward for the very same four Avondale players who were narrowly beaten in last year’s Interclub final by Bottle Lake.

Part of Canterbury Golf's strategy to grow the game has a focus on attracting young people and families to learn and play golf. The Family TEAM Golf Ambrose was launched with 52 players made up of a family pairing of a child and adult participating in a 9 hole ambrose event. New Zealand has selected an exciting young squad of golfers to compete in both the men’s and women’s Toyota Junior Golf World Cup in June 10-15 this year. Juliana Hung (Canterbury), Carmen Lim (Auckland) and Rose Zheng (Auckland) show a nice mix of international experience and youth as they look to compete against the world’s best at the Chukyo Golf Club Ishino Course, Japan.

Greendale Golf Club put on a great day for the annual representative fixture between North and Central Canterbury. The match was made up of 56 players with senior, intermediate, masters and junior sections.
Central Canterbury (which are pictured) won three of the four sections with wins to the senior, junior and intermediate teams.
Kaiapoi's Rodney Downes had a great start to the day scoring a hole in one during the mornings foursomes round on the 17th hole.
