The Kaikoura Cup and Templeton Cup Finals were held at Kaiapoi Golf Club yesterday in warm sunny conditions and the course in great order.
In the Kaikoura Cup Final Amuri's, from left Mike Toeke, Jason Sincock, Nick Franzmann, Will Bastings, Andrew Murdoch, James Cadenhead and Ross Forbes proved too strong for Pegasus Blue's Mike Taylor, James Loveday, Andrew Green, Shaun Allan, Peter Brinsdon and Nick Brennan, who were looking to make it three titles in a row for Pegasus, defeating the top qualifiers 4.5-1.5.

While 2018 proved to be one of the wettest-ever years on record, a warmer and dryer start to 2019 has been a contributing factor to a 13% increase in rounds played so far this year in the Canterbury region.
This positive trend can be attributed to a jump in rounds by both club members and visiting golfers.
Of the 37 clubs in Canterbury with rounds played data on the Dotgolf system, 28 clubs have experienced an increase in rounds played with Avondale, Hagley, Weedons and Kaituna in particular recording increases upwards of 40%.

North Canterbury enjoyed their trip to the Reefton Golf Club to play against the Buller Westland Team in the Ryder Cup style format with 4BBB, Foursomes and Singles.
Overall the North Canterbury Seniors won 11.5-8.5 games with Buller Westland taking the bragging rights int he Supporters team 15-5 games.

The Final of Women's Weekend Interclub between Pegasus and Bottle Lake 2 was played in a cold southerly wind at Christchurch on Sunday, with the course in geat order.
Pegasus fought out the matches to the last green to narrowly defeat Bottle Lake 2, 2.5 to 1.5.
Pegasus number four, Lynn Younger had a tough challenge giving 12 shots to Anne Brown of Bottle Lake. After an early four hole deficit Anne came back to tie their match at the sixteenth and went on to win 1 up. The Women’s 36 Hole Silver, 36 Hole Open and 18 Hole Interclub Finals were played at Templeton Golf Club yesterday.
With dire weather forecasts and an overnight wind storm, players were delighted to enjoy a fine day at Templeton for the Finals. Templeton provided a good challenge with some fast greens and lush lies off the fairways. All games were played in good spirits and friendship.

New Zealand Golf’s 2019 National Academy has now been named with a number of players gaining reselection along with some of New Zealand’s rising young talents being included.
The incumbent members who have been reselected include Daniel Hillier (Manor Park), Luke Brown (The Pines), Matt Mclean (Harewood), Kerry Mountcastle (Masterton), Caryn Khoo (Pakuranga), Juliana Hung (Russley) and Brittney Dryland (Titirangi).
The newly selected members include some familiar names with Kazuma Kobori (Rangiora), Carmen Lim (Windross Farm) and Vivian Lu (Royal Auckland and Grange) making the step up after a superb 12 months.

The final round of round-robin Junior Interclub Matchplay was held at Christchurch Golf Club yesterday in fine weather and the course in excellent condition.
It was the last chance for players to push their case for individual honours as the best performed over the round-robin part of the competition.
With one round left it was still wide open with several players in contention, but it was Russley White's Jack Collie pictured left, who continued his great form through out the competition winning his final match and remaining undefeated, winning four from four over the five rounds to win the coveted Maori Wahaika...

North Canterbury players enjoyed their annual match against Nelson played at Hanmer Springs Golf Club with the course in superb condition.
The seniors and intermediate teams enjoyed the match played over three rounds which included Foursomes, Singles and Reverse Singles. Unfortunately Nelson were unable to field junior or masters teams for this fixture.
The North Canterbury Seniors were very strong winning 14.5 of the possible 16 points.
Nelson took the bragging rights in the Intermediate section winning 16-6 games.

The Final round of Presidents Grade Interclub was played at Avondale Golf Club on Sunday, with all teams playing at the same venue for the finale of the season. Avondale was in great order to host the event and the weather conditions fine and sunny.
At the end of the penultimate round Templeton and Coringa were both on top of the table on points with Templeton slightly ahead on games and Harewood a point behind in third.
With the top two teams playing each other in the final round, it was always going to be a tough match and so it proved...
