As part of Canterbury Golf’s effort to grow the number of young people engaged in events, 9 and 18 hole events were added to the Canterbury Age Group Championships which are played over 36 holes. The added sections saw 55 children involved in the day held at Waitikiri Golf Club.
Waitikiri Golf Club was in excellent condition following on from the NZ Women's Interprovincial held early December.

The Woodward Cup Promotion / Relegation match was played yesterday at Templeton Golf Club in very warm weather and the course in great condition.
This year's event matched the highest placed teams in Blank Cup (Clearwater) and Canterbury Central Shield (Hororata), that do not already have a team in Woodward Cup with the tenth placed team in this year's Woodward Cup (Avondale) for their place in the 2019 Woodward Cup competition. The Canterbury Golf Women's Christmas Tournament was held at Kaiapoi Golf Club on Friday in warm, sunny weather with the course in great order.
The tournament was well supported with 69 entries and a highlight of the day was Elaine Rae from Rangiora scoring a hole in one on No.5.

After having confirmed their semi final position at the NZ Women's Interprovincials yesterday Canterbury didn't slow down today in the final round robin match beating Bay of Plenty 4-1 to ensure they remained unbeaten and at the top of the table.
Canterbury's Maddie May led from the front to get an early win on the board for the team. After making the turn through 9 holes 4 up she continued to push ahead to secure the first win 7/6. Canterbury have completed a stunning comeback at the Women’s Toro Interprovincial to secure a semi-finals berth at Waitikiri Golf Club alongside Auckland and North Harbour.
Playing in the feature match against an unbeaten Wellington side in the morning, they found themselves down in four of five matches through nine holes, however they turned things around to win by a narrow 3-2 margin.

The Flexi Lease Canterbury Women's Team have started off with a strong performance at the Waitikiri Golf Club for the NZ Toro Women's Interprovincials. The team have had a successful three years, after winning in 2015 at the Ashburton Golf Club, the team finished third in 2016 and runners up in 2017. 19 current and past Presidents competed for the G.W.A Green Presidents Cup this year with Canterbury Golf's President Steve Kilpatrick making it back-to-back wins on his home course and retaining the Presidents Cup with 38 stableford points on a countback from Templeton's Shawn Fibbes.
