Matt McLean Confirmed for 2018 Asia-Pacific Amateur

Matt McLean Muriwai Open Six New Zealand players have been confirmed to compete at the Asia-Pacific Amateur Championship (AAC) to be played at Sentosa Golf Club, Singapore in October.  Acting as one of the globes biggest amateur events, this strong contingent of Kiwis will all have a chance of securing a place at both the 2019 Masters Tournament and The 148th Open Championship if they were to win the 72-hole individual stroke play event.  New Zealand Squad in order of World Amateur Golf Rankings: Daniel Hillier (23), Denzel Ieremia (205), Luke Brown (272), Matthew Mclean (398), Charlie Hillier (411) and Kerry Mountcastle (431).  With Mclean being...

National Women's Club Based Competition Results

Woodward Cup - Round 4

All four seasons greeted the players in the fourth round of Woodward Cup at Russley Golf Club yesterday. Warm-ups started in warm and calm conditions, but this changed around the time players teed off where they met high winds, rain and even hail. Russley turned things around and used their home venue to capture their first win of the season and a convincing one at that against Waitikiri. Wins to Reid Hilton, Ben Baker, Henry Bryden, Michael McAuley, Taylor Hosking, Hayato Miya and a halve match bewteen David Kelly and Chris Bond. Dominic Brettkelly also won in his last match...

Pollock Cup - Round 2

On a cold day at Waimairi Beach with a few brief showers, some good scores were recorded and many matches were fought out to the last hole. From a 6-0 loss last week, Weedons rebounded with a full strength team with wins to Deanna Matthews, Di Kay and Vicki Ward at the bottom of the order while Nicky Muir had a hard earned half with Kim Moggach to narrowly defeat Waitikiri 3.5 to 2.5. Pollock Cup - Round 1

The first round of Pollock Cup got underway in fine weather and good course conditions at Waitikiri yesterday.  It was pleasing to see new players, especially juniors, in the new six-person team format. Weedons were in the competition for the first time and without two key players suffered a 6-0 loss to defending Champions Christchurch with wins to Catherine Bell, Melissa Newburn, Margaret-Mary Coughlan, Mel Brew, Maria Lee and June Edwards. Woodward Cup - Round 3

Round 3 of Woodward Cup was played at Harewood Golf Club yesterday in fine, breezy conditions and the course in great order. Templeton's playing order changes worked in their favour against hosts Harewood winning 5-3 to stay at the top of the table with Mike Berry defeating Harewood no.1 Matt McLean 2/1 at the top of the order while Ryan Bellamy, James Robb, Greg Hey and Sam Purdon at 8 all registered wins. Great turnout for Kids Event

Canterbury Junior July Tournament 9 Holers Over 50 children participated in the Canterbury Golf junior event held at the Coringa Golf Club today.  Children aged 4-18 years participated in the event that included both an 18 hole handicapped section as well as a 9 hole event played from the purple tee course for those working towards achieving a handicap.  Despite the rain the children were keen to play and in the end were rewarded with a great day for golf. Juliana Hung Underway at The Junior Open

Juliana Hung NZ Stroke Play Cropped A field of 142 emerging boy and girl golfers from 78 countries aged 12-16 years will compete in the Junior Open at the Eden Course, St Andrews on the eve of The 147th Open at Carnoustie next week.  Juliana Hung is one of those fortunate to have received an invitation to compete at the world class junior event.  The event is contested over 54 holes of stroke play with all competitors then visiting The Open at Carnoustie on Thursday 19 and Friday 20 July. McGuire Hendon Winners 2018 Kaiapoi Gold LR The Ashby Bergh Trophy and McGuire Hendon Cup were played at Lincoln Golf Club on Sunday in cool, wintery conditions and the course in great order.  The Ashby Bergh Trophy was played between Weedons Red, the winner of Canterbury Central Patterson Cup and Amberley Gold, the winner of the Canterbury North Templeton Cup.
