With the Final round of Woodward Cup Interclub completed at Christchurch Golf Club yesterday, the Stan Rich Salver winner for the best individual performance in the competition was presented to Clearwater's Sam McGill who won 8 of his 9 round-robin matches.

Sam's Clearwater team will compete against last year's Champions Christchurch in the Woodward Cup Semi-Finals at Avondale next Sunday, while Templeton will meet Russley in the other Semi-Final.

The Central Canterbury Masters Final was played at Tai Tapu Golf Club yesterday in perfect weather and the course in superb condition.
Tai Tapu played against Hororata Black, with the result coming down to the last hole before the Tai Tapu team of, from left Scott Ward, Jason Blair (Captain), Ricky Hetherington, Paul Howley, Damian Hanrahan, Derek Watson and Murray Chapman won 5 ½ - 3 ½ against a very gallant Horota side of Al Sime, Dan Reardon, Shane Prendergast, Barry Marshall, James Perkins and Andrew Kenworthy.

Canterbury Golf would like to acknowledge the passing of Jim Mangnall on Thursday October 24 in his 89th year.
Jim was the secretary of the Canterbury Golf Association for a number of years in the late 1990’s and early 2000s. Jim also was employed at both Waitikiri and Avondale Golf Clubs as a Manager in the later years of his working life. He was a member at Harewood Golf Club, before joining Waimakariri Gorge from around 1990 when he moved to Oxford, and finally Greendale Golf Club when he moved to live there in 2012. The 2024 edition of the Canterbury Match Play took place over the long weekend at Pegasus Golf Club. With the extremely heavy rain experienced overnight, unfortunately the decision was made to cancel Saturday’s qualifying round play. With an improved forecast, the tournament was to continue on directly to Sunday’s Round of 16 matches with the seedings and match up’s for those completely based on the player’s handicap index.
As Sunday dawned the weather thankfully was much improved and with the course draining well, play was able to commence as scheduled with the Men’s & Women’s divisions teeing off the number 1...

It was a successful weekend for both the Women’s and Men’s Canterbury teams over the weekend as both teams took out their respective South Island Interprovincial titles. Played at the clubs set to host the 2024 NZ Interprovincial tournaments in early December, the weekend provided an ideal opportunity for the teams to familiarise themselves with the course. Supporters too enjoyed improved opportunity to engage with the event with the introduction of Live Scoring as an event first following Canterbury Golf’s new agreement to utilise the impressive Golf Genius software which enabled managers and supporters alike to stay up to date...

The Canterbury Men’s Masters have come away with the Masters South Island Interprovincial title after overcoming their South Island counterparts in Invercargill this weekend. Playing at the venue that will be hosting the NZ Freyberg tournament in mid-November the event provided a great opportunity for all teams to familarise themselves with the course against competitive opposition.
