The annual Town vs Country fixture was played at Amberly Golf Club yesterday. With some initial showers soon passing, the day was played in brisk but fine conditions with the course in good shape.
With the event being played in a new trial format in 2023 the opening qualifying round commenced with a shotgun start at 8am with 4-man groupings scattered across the course. The Final Results have been confirmed for the Women's National Teams Championship, and it was all so close for the Canterbury District Champion Harewood team of Marie Bell, Amy Liu, Kathryn Maloney and Liz Warren finishing runner-up, 1 shot behind National Champions Rangatira who finished 18 under par.

On Friday the 11th of August the annual Canterbury Golf Awards Dinner was held at Christchurch Golf Club. With over a hundred people from the Canterbury Golf community in attendance a great evening was held celebrating not only the previous seasons player on-field performances but also importantly the opportunity was taken to recognise those that have given so much to the game locally over many years.

The CGI Executive has made a decision to appoint Blair Minton into the new role of General Manager – Pathways and Performance. This new role will be the senior employment position within Canterbury Golf and will report directly to the Executive. Blair will be responsible for the oversight of the day-to-day operations and delivery of the participation, club support, and competition golf aspects of the organisation. In 2022, with the inauguration of the Matariki Holiday, Kaituna Golf Club organised an Ambrose tournament which was such a success that it was decided to try and make this an annual event. This year’s event was advertised about 5 weeks out and in around a week, the field was fully subscribed.

With the 2023/2024 season approaching Canterbury Golf has been working towards some new additions to the CGI Tour - Order of Merit series as well some additions and changes for the 2024 Canterbury Stroke Play and Match Play.

The Final round of Canterbury North Women's Interclub competition was played at Hawarden yesterday in cool, overcast conditions in what turned out to be a thrilling finish to what had been a very close competition all season.The fortunes of the top four teams changed markedly as results were finalised, with the leading Culverden team being convicingly beaten by fourth placed Scargill 4-0, and Hanmer Springs defeating Amberley 3-1 to set up a sudden play-off between Scargill and Hanmer Springs as they finished level on 15 points each.The play-off responsibility fell on the shoulders of the teams No.1's, Scargill's Ingrid Cadenhead...
